Born in London, Jonathan Chritchley became fascinated by the sea when he moved to the famous sailing town of Lymington, on England’s southern coast at the age of 14. In 1998, after having settled in Biarritz with his family, he gave up his career as a marketing director and decided to return to his true passion. Today considered one of the foremost maritime photographers in the world, he became one of the most widely talked about in 2013 after more than twenty media reports acknowledged the quality of his work. In 2014, Jonathan Chritchley was listed among the “Top 100 Photographers of All Time” by the Sunday Times, as well as the “100 Most Influential Photographers” by the magazine Professional Photographer. He has worked in more than 35 countries, including Japan, China, South America, Greenland, and South Africa. In 2016 he was made a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS). Ralph Lauren, Hilton International and Fortuny are among his regular clients.
Jonathan shoots these remarkable shots specially adapted and very fast speed and from the air in a 2 man helicopter. ' Photographing these incredible horses on the water is like seeing history in front of you. A truly emotional and remarkable experience ' he says.
